NEVER VOTED FOR A LEGISLATIVE PAY OR PENSION INCREASE

I am extremely proud to have voted AGAINST every legislative pay raise or pension increase that has come before me.  This includes:

• 1995 Legislative Pay Raise
• 2001 Legislative Pension Increase
• 2005 Legislative Pay Raise

I voted against the controversial pay raise from years ago, and I also refused to take unvouchered expenses.  I also voted against the pension increase….and refused to take that as well.  People work too hard for their money to be giving it away for the personal benefit of politicians.

NEVER VOTED FOR A TAX INCREASE

As State Senator, I am proud of the fact that I have NEVER voted for a tax increase during my tenure in the General Assembly.  There are too many government hands in our pockets, and it needs to stop.

This includes:

• 1997 Gas Tax
• 2002 Estate Tax
• 2003 State Income Tax
• 2004 Occupational Privilege Tax

I firmly believe that cutting frivolous spending in our state budget needs to be a priority as we work to move Pennsylvania forward in the future.  While our state government cut spending as part of this past state budget cycle, I believe we can do better.

The residents of Pennsylvania want greater financial accountability from Harrisburg with their tax dollars.  Public service is a public trust.  My record reflects my strong commitment to honor the trust you’ve placed in me.

AN INDEPENDENT VOICE WE CAN TRUST

I have always been an independent voice in Harrisburg.  In fact, my voting record with Senate leadership is 50%.  I went to Harrisburg to represent the interests of the residents of the Lehigh Valley and Pocono Mountain area, not special interests or Harrisburg power brokers.  I will never forget the commitment I made to my constituents 16years ago to put their interests first and look forward to continuing to live up to that commitment representing you in Harrisburg.
